He'll be keeping his eyes pealed for possibilities, and unlike the Ingalls', we know we'll get help from job search agencies and the bank, who are offering hardship packages for all affected. It's so strange, seeing blank spaces on supermarket shelves and knowing similar things are happening across the world. Stay safe yourself. How great that you're a homeschooling family already, and not among those panicking because their children will be at home 24/7 :) Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-9300552281642488722020-03-20T18:49:56.343+11:002020-03-20T18:49:56.343+11:00Thanks so much for your encouragement Sheree, and ...Thanks so much for your encouragement Sheree, and we're thinking of you folk in New South Wales too, as we know there have been several cases of Corona. Do prioritise lying low and keeping your own sense of humour through all this. Mark was such a legend, wasn't he? Keeping the jokes rolling even through his panic!

Since writing this post, we've spoken to the bank and they are offering some mortgage respite for the next few months, which takes the pressure off. Meanwhile, it's off to C'Link for my husband, and at least he knows that as soon as these crazy times calm down, the nursing homes will welcome him straight back again. That's what Pa would do.

It is so surreal. Everything we do has been put on hold, and there is no end in sight. : (Ruth @ with freedom and bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15531827758868215023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-17570192758073720352020-03-19T20:43:13.543+11:002020-03-19T20:43:13.543+11:00Oh gosh, Paula - I'm happy to hear that you...Oh gosh, Paula - I'm happy to hear that you're safe and well, but devastated about the financial toll this is going to take on your family :( Perhaps the bank might be able to offer a hardship package or assistance in at least keeping things stable until the worst of it is over? Frightening times for us here in Sydney, too, with so much panic and uncertainty. I do love the idea of a Mark Watney approach to it all - I always remember, when I think back to The Martian, how he managed to keep his sense of humour, even in such a dire situation (and so isolated! making jokes, even when no one else was there to laugh at them!), so I'll be trying to do the same. Sending you love from this neck of the woods, and crossing my fingers for you 🤞Sheree @ Keeping Up With The Penguinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09387035714160789080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-54085368417201877582020-03-18T08:24:15.109+11:002020-03-18T08:24:15.109+11:00Hi Brian, so true. How different things look now. And how much harder it would be even to return to Australia. Very strange indeed. It astounding how the world has shut down so quickly. I hope that your husband gets back to work as soon as possible.

I agree, there is a lot of inspiration to be found in literary figures. Mark is a good example.
