How times have changed since then. Especially that different styles of thinkers have totally different ways of processing ideas. Those extremely clued up, academic literary folk seem to have a lot of fun in their own way, but that is poles apart from my dreamy way 😉 I'm also glad to be part of a community where we can simply compare impressions and ideas. Because I think the other type miss something very cool by not focusing on this side.Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-56480399176011784562020-04-22T05:16:30.292+10:002020-04-22T05:16:30.292+10:00Yes, I do relate to your experience in many ways. ...Yes, I do relate to your experience in many ways. If I knew when I was in my twenties that I would have such a love affair w/ literature (especially the classics), I think I would have pursued the same dream, and probably realized I wasn't cut out for such deep analysis either -- or something wouldn't have been right.

But I am grateful I rediscovered my love today, and I am enjoying it enough, too. Glad to have found others who are on a similar path to discuss these ideas.Ruth @ with freedom and bookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15531827758868215023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-81531049380893234652020-04-20T09:59:05.286+10:002020-04-20T09:59:05.286+10:00Hi Brian, thanks for the heads up about Harold Blo...Hi Brian, thanks for the heads up about Harold Bloom. I'm not sure if his name is familiar or not, but I certainly haven't read any of his work. And as for personal study and analysis of literature, there are definitely many worse things we could be doing 👍Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-53337695805262998622020-04-20T07:36:31.528+10:002020-04-20T07:36:31.528+10:00Superb post. For my part it is a passion that I do d not really discover until later.

On a side not, though perhaps not popular in academia these days, there is an entire school of thought that views looking at literature through the isms to be a bad road to go down. You may be already familiar, but if not, I highly recommend the writings of Harold Bloom. Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.com
