It'll be fun to see what you think, and I'm willing to bet you'll quickly sense that same pattern I did. It is The Rosie Project-y indeed 😂👍 Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-52163015879547320122019-03-26T14:58:41.377+11:002019-03-26T14:58:41.377+11:00HA! I thought the EXACT same thing when I saw this title for the first time, AND ended up picking up a copy out of sheer (probably mostly imagined) peer pressure - mine was from a market stall run by the occupants of a recently Kondo-d share-house. I haven't got to it yet, but from your review it sounds very The Rosie Project-y. Thank you for tempering my expectations a little, always appreciated 😉👍 Sheree @ Keeping Up With The Penguinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09387035714160789080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-38077172594720948532019-03-26T11:06:11.452+11:002019-03-26T11:06:11.452+11:00Yes, Amy would be great. I think we had good reason to take it all on face value for sure 😊 Didn't quite work 👍

It'll be interesting to see the cast revealed. For some reason, I imagined Eleanor to be a bit like Amy from The Big Bang Theory. I wonder which actor will play Raymond. His role has the potential for a lot of fun.Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-79022163944150278452019-03-26T08:46:22.749+11:002019-03-26T08:46:22.749+11:00Hi Paula - Great to hear your thoughts. I could probably relate to it because I know someone very much like her (though not quite as clueless about social cues), so I was seeing a lot of her in Eleanor and I was thinking how easy it is to dismiss people without trying to understand how they became that way. I also love Eleanor's voice.

And I know what you mean about the twist that didn't quite come off. If I went back and read those episodes again, I'm not sure they'd fit with the reveal. I don;t mind an unreliable narrator if it's done well. I'm not sure that aspect worked here.

But I really loved it overall. Will be interesting to see who they get to play Eleanor. I think Reese Witherspoon has bought the rights to it, but I'm assuming she won't play the lead unless they use a lot of make-up :)Nola Lorrainehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05484579374187759802noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-30660967352573470882019-03-25T09:57:38.885+11:002019-03-25T09:57:38.885+11:00Hi Brian, yes, those unusual or eccentric protagon...Hi Brian, yes, those unusual or eccentric protagonists definitely make memorable characters. They help readers step in other people's shoes too. I reckon the fact that this book has taken off so much indicates an underlying desire for healthy, sound communication. It's an interesting book just for that reason.Paula Vincehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02079952414990463270noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8533677737021490096.post-90285286166534012092019-03-25T08:45:37.766+11:002019-03-25T08:45:37.766+11:00The book sounds so interesting. In real life they can be mocked and picked on but there are some places that foster healthy atmospheres where that is not true. On the other hand, if someone is saying inappropriate things that might interfere with the well being of others and that then becomes an issue. All this makes the book sound good.
